BizTalk is a message conversion system from Microsoft that was originally released in 2000. It was designed as a business solution for easy communication using any message format and almost any network protocol. BizTalk can also be used as an integration platform to connect your legacy systems with the latest and greatest, all while maintaining seamless communication. This path is brought to you by Stephen W. Thomas, who has been working with BizTalk since 2008 and has received the Microsoft MVP recognition for BizTalk for the past 9 years. Objective:

This path will take you from little to no knowledge of BizTalk, all the way up to using more advanced solutions. You should already be familiar with the .NET stack and C# in order to glean the most information from this path.

 

Target audience:

This path is targeted toward developers who may or may not have previous experience in BizTalk, and who are already familiar with C# and Visual Studio. If you are not familiar with these (or if you need a refresher) please take a look at the C# Fundamentals with Visual Studio 2015 course.

Description:

In Matt Milner's BizTalk 2006 Fundamentals course, you'll be introduced to BizTalk server and how it can be used to automate business processes. You'll also be introduced to some of the common issues enterprises face when attempting to bridge the gap between legacy applications and new applications, as well as the fundamentals for BizTalk messaging.

Next, you'll rejoin Matt Milner for Advanced BizTalk Server 2010, and this time around you'll dig deeper into the more advanced features of BizTalk such as error handling, WCF adapters, and deployment.

Stephen W. Thomas will guide you through the next course in this series, Intro to BizTalk Server 2013 Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) Toolkit. This course introduces you to working with the ESB toolkit in a real-world scenario, as well as how to use the exception framework built in to ESB.

In BizTalk Server 2013 from Ground Up: An End to End Scenario, Mohamad Halabi guides you through everything you'll need to know foundationally for BizTalk Server 2013 before moving to a real-world scenario and creating a solution.

By now you should have a fairly good idea of how to effectively work with BizTalk Server. In Stephen W. Thomas' What's New in BizTalk Server 2013 you'll be introduced to using Azure with BizTalk, as well as other integrations like SharePoint, which you can leverage to work with BizTalk.

For the final course in this path, Dan Toomey will guide you through Using Functoids in the BizTalk 2013 Mapper. This course is great for those of you who often need to use maps, and BizTalk is a deep-dive into the Mapper toolbox built in with BizTalk.
