SILICON SLOPES, Utah — Pluralsight, Inc., the technology workforce development company, today announced that its social enterprise, Pluralsight One, is committing more than $1.2 million in additional cash grants to support its nonprofit partners as they meet the rapidly evolving needs of the communities they serve. Pluralsight One strategic partners that are receiving additional grants from the Pluralsight One Fund include the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), Year Up, Malala Fund, Code.org, and the Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA). The recent grants come on top of Pluralsight One’s original commitment to deploy $850,000 in funding to its partners this year, bringing the total funding to more than $2 million in 2021.

“We are grateful for each and every one of our partners whose teams have faced immense challenges in carrying out their important work in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, but have remained nimble and adapted to advance their missions and meet the needs of the communities they support,” said Christopher Oliver, Executive Vice President of Corporate Strategy of Pluralsight. “Our focus at Pluralsight One has always rested on improving equal access to technology skills and investing in catalytic solutions. These additional grants will enable our partners to build capacity and leverage technology to best support the individuals and communities that they serve.”

The cash grants to strategic partners from the Pluralsight One Fund in the following ways:

• NRC — With Pluralsight One’s support, NRC will transform its digital capabilities and technology competence to build capacity and leverage technology to deliver services to displaced populations in remote places around the world. Those services include programs that meet immediate humanitarian needs, prevent further displacement and contribute to durable solutions that create lasting social impact.
• Year Up — Year Up has received its grant in support of its mission to close the opportunity divide for underserved young adults by building technology skills that strengthen pathways to professional employment. The cash grant and Pluralsight One’s product grant will support Year Up staff’s technology skill development as well as that of the 4,500 young adults supported by their programming each year. The product grant includes technology strategy development, curated content mapped to industry partners’ needs, and access to the Pluralsight One tech skills development platform for staff, students and alumni.
• Malala Fund — Through its partnership with Pluralsight One, Malala Fund will leverage its grant to support the work of Malala Fund Champions across Afghanistan, India, Nigeria and Pakistan. Pluralsight One is investing in the development and implementation of a technology skills development strategy and curated content so the Malala Fund staff, in-country team members, and Malala Fund Champions can apply tech-based solutions to address barriers to girls’ education while scaling their impact in some of the hardest to reach parts of the world. In addition to the cash grant, access to Pluralsight One’s tech skills platform will also be deployed with individuals supported by Malala Fund Champions to harness technology as a tool for women and girls to have a voice as well as create opportunity for 21st century employment.
• Code.org — Code.org’s grant will support the organization’s mission to expand access to computer science in schools and increase participation by women and underrepresented minorities. Additionally, Pluralsight One’s investment will help grow the organization’s resources for teachers and students, continue the development of curricula across K-12, expand their efforts to retrain K-12 teachers to teach computer science, increase global accessibility through language and offline capabilities, and debunk misconceptions about computer science through their annual Hour of Code campaign.
• CSTA — With the grant provided by Pluralsight One, CSTA will continue to support the development and implementation of digital resources for teachers with a focus on equity and inclusion. Pluralsight One’s support will provide professional development for CS educators, enable them to build skills with resources that are mapped to national exams and are aligned with CS curriculum, scale the CSTA Equity Fellowship to grow and establish an active Equity Fellow Alumni network, continue to build capacity and sustain CSTA’s chapters, and develop rigorous professional development that grows the number of English language learner students enrolled in AP computer science.
